Two Women Arrested for Throwing Egg at Imran Khan’s Sister Aleema in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi police arrested two women on Friday after they threw an egg at Aleema Khanum, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, during a press conference outside Adiala Jail.

The incident happened while Aleema was speaking to media following the Toshakhana case hearing. Video clips went viral on social media and TV channels, showing Aleema’s shocked reaction as the egg hit near her.

Police confirmed both suspects were PTI supporters. They had arrived with members of the All Government Employees Grand Alliance and the All Pakistan Clerks Association, who were protesting for pending demands.

Authorities said the egg was thrown after Aleema did not answer their questions. The women attempted to flee in a car, but PTI supporters surrounded the vehicle and threw pebbles, breaking its windscreen.

Lawyer Fida Hussain Abbasi, a member of Imran Khan’s legal team, strongly condemned the act, calling it “shameful” and a “failed attempt to weaken the struggle.”

Aleema has been campaigning for her brother’s release since August 2024. Imran Khan remains jailed since August 2023 in the £190 million corruption case, along with multiple May 9 trials under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
