Tragedy in Raiwind: Dispute Over Bananas Leaves Two Brothers Dead
Lahore, August 2025 – What began as a simple attempt to buy bananas turned into a heartbreaking tragedy for a family from Kot Radha Kishan, as two young brothers lost their lives after a violent clash near Rohi Nala, Raiwind.
The victims, Wajid and Rashid, both in their twenties, had traveled to Lahore and stopped at a roadside fruit market to purchase bananas. The brothers carried a Rs100 note and a Rs5,000 note, but the fruit seller did not have change for the larger denomination. When they requested fewer bananas for the smaller note, an argument broke out.
According to eyewitnesses, the disagreement quickly escalated into a physical fight. The fruit seller allegedly called for assistance from nearby men playing cricket. The confrontation turned brutal, and both brothers were severely beaten.
Disturbing mobile footage of the incident shows Rashid trying to support his injured brother as blood poured from his wounds, when another man struck Rashid on the head with a cricket bat. Both brothers later succumbed to their injuries, leaving their community in shock.
Funerals in Kot Radha Kishan were attended by grieving villagers, mourning the senseless loss of two young lives over a dispute worth just a few rupees. The tragedy has sparked outrage, with many calling for stricter action against street violence and better protection for ordinary citizens.
Police have launched an investigation, and arrests are expected as the case gains widespread public attention.
